Loan Forgiveness for Healthcare Workers
Public Service Loan Forgiveness—If you are employed by a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization, you might be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
Educational Loan Repayment Program for Health Professionals—The CDC may provide up to $50,000 per year in student loan repayment, based on the availability of funds, to those accepted into certain fellowship programs with two-year or three-year service agreements.
VA Loan Repayment Resources—Educational incentives, scholarships, and loan repayment from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
HRSA Faculty Loan Repayment Plan—Faculty members at an approved health professions school with a contract for two years or more may be eligible if they come from a disadvantaged background and have an eligible health professions degree or certificate.
HRSA Loan Repayment Programs—Loan repayment plans for specific professions like dental professionals, substance abuse disorder counselors, pharmacists, nurses, and nurse anesthetists.
HRSA Nurse Corp Loan Repayment—Nurses who work full time in an eligible CSF in a high need area or an accredited school of nursing may be eligible for loan repayment.
Rural Incentive Program
MDs, APRNs, and PAs may be eligible for South Carolina's Rural Physician Incentive Grant Program.
MDs, NPs, and PAs may be eligible for Resident Enhanced Rural Incentive Grants.
Dentists may be eligible for the Rural Dentist Program.
Loan Forgiveness for Teachers
Borrowers who received a Teachers Loan, Career Changer Loan, or a PACE Loan may be eligible to have portions of their loan indebtedness forgiven by teaching in certain critical geographic and/or subject areas in the SC public school system.

In addition to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, the Department of Veterans Affairs offers additional options for loan forgiveness for certain employees working in a VA facility.
